Emmanuel Aligizakis (Manolis) is a Cretan poet, author and translator who has published over 80 books in more than a dozen different countries and in eleven different languages. His title ‘George Seferis-Collected Poems’ was shortlisted for the Greek National Literary Awards. In 2017, he was awarded the First Poetry Prize by Romania’s Mihai Eminescu International Poetry Festival, and he was later nominated for the 2022 Nobel Prize in Literature by the Mihai Eminescu International Academy. A graduate of the Panteion University of Athens, he studied English Literature at Simon Fraser University. He is the author of a longhand version of ‘Erotokritos’ by V.Kornaros, the nearly 500 year old romantic poem that Manolis had transcribed at the age of 11, now released in a limited edition of 100 numbered copies and made available for collectors at CA$5000. To his credit, Manolis has translated and published selected works of all major Greek poets in English.
