Jo Martinez – Surrey Muse

Poet, blogger, technical writer, artisan, musician, and entrepreneur Jo Martinez considers herself a ‘Jo of all trades’ kind of gal as she dabbles in and pursues a wide variety of passions and projects.

Jo has been writing lyrics and poetry since the age of 9. Some of her poems have been selected for two poetry anthologies by Silver Bow Publishing. Jo was a participant at this year’s International 3-Day Novel Contest, she completed her 3 day novel manuscript, and submitted it for competition.

She has written and co-written several business plans, training manuals, employee procedural guides, and other technical projects. She created, co-created, and maintained websites, business concepts, and marketing materials.

Also an abstract visual artisan, once in a while, Jo refinishes furniture pieces just for the heck of it. She had learned to play the trumpet as a child, but she is self-taught on keyboards and is currently working on mastering the fiddle.

In her spare time Jo attends and supports various literary and arts events in Metro Vancouver. She is a member of New West Writer’s, regularly attends Surrey Muse, and has presented her work at Poetry in the Park and Poetic Justice.

Jo is currently editing both her new and old literary work. She plans to publish her first book of poems in 2013.

At the October 26 Gathering of Surrey Muse, Jo Martinez will open the Open Mic Session with her poems.
