Kevin Taylor is a Surrey-based author writing both prose and poetry. He has published three collections of his poetry: Souls Arriving, Between Music and Dance, and White Imbongi. Other titles include Seize the Stage, a ‘little’ book on creating poetry, and Ka-BOOM! A Dictionary of Comic Book Words, Symbols & Onomatopoeia. Ka-BOOM! is used as reference material in several college linguistics programs, and was reviewed by TIME Digital and used by West Virginia Department of Education in partnership with IBM Reinventing Education Project. His poems have been published in various online/offline journals and ezines including Poetry Canada and Galaxy.
Kevin’s first poem was published in 1973 in Sand Patterns Magazine in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. About himself Kevin says, ‘Born in East Vancouver on a leap year Wednesday and like the poem on the pantry cake-tin, for all to agree with by the evidence of their own eyes and ears— Wednesday’s child is full of woe. And therefor he has had a great deal to complain about— and then to write.’
At the August 26 gathering of Surrey Muse, Kevin will begin the Open Mic Session with his poems. More about the event is here:
