Juliane Okot Bitek is a poet, scholar, an essayist and a writer of short fiction. Her writings have been published online and in print. She is launching her first collection of poems 100 Days in spring 2016 with University of Alberta Press.
Juliane is a poetry ambassador with the City of Vancouver working with Poet Laureate, Rachel Rose. As well, Juliane is a Liu Scholar at the Liu Institute for Global Issues, and a PhD Candidate in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus on the relationship between history, alienation and memory.
At the June 26 Gathering of Surrey Muse, Juliane will present an unpublished poem on the relationship between national anthems and violence against children. For more information about this event, click below:
