Kat Wahamaa is a songwriter, an arts activist and a performer who has toured Canada, Japan, US and UK presenting folk, blues, jazz and country music. She has released six CDs including Wise Woman (Kathryn Wahamaa 1997), Cascadia (Kat Wahamaa 2001), Swamped (Swamp City 2015), Everything Blue (Kat & Tony 2013), I’ll Get Mine (Back Door Slam 2008) , A Little Jewel To Keep EP (Kat & Tony 2006); and, her compositions have been used in theatre and film. Kat has been a singer since childhood playing guitar, mandolin, bass and percussion, and she’s inspired by Linda Ronstadt, Leonard Cohen, Lucinda Williams, Buffy Ste Marie. Over the last 15 years through music, dance, theatre, fibre and photographic art, she has focused on the creation and development of community arts. Kat is the Artist in Residence for the City of Maple Ridge where she’s recording a new Kat & Tony CD and a children’s CD while working toward her M Ed. in Art and Social Change at SFU.
