Tamar Vokey is a retired teacher whose love for writing has stayed strong since childhood when, at the age of 10, she wrote and illustrated her first book. Since then, she has dipped in many genres from personalized humorous greeting cards in the 80’s to early 2000’s, to writing poetry, short stories and flash fiction. One of her blogs got over 50,000 hits within the first year, when she decided it was best to quit while ahead and leave her readers itching for more. Her work has been published in From This Place, an anthology for Newfoundland women writers, a Grade 7 literature text book, and Downhome, a magazine published in Toronto for Newfoundlanders. Tamar is now working on two projects- the second edit of her NaNoWriMo book Oh My God!, and a collection of supernatural short stories titled 13×2.
At the August 23 gathering of Surrey Muse, Tamar will begin the Open Mic Session. More information about the event is here: august-23-2019
