Katherine Fawcett – Surrey Muse

Katherine Fawcett is a Montreal-born, Calgary-raised, Squamish-based writer, teacher, mentor, arts activist and musician. Her first short story collection The Little Washer of Sorrows (Thistledown Press, 2015) was a finalist for the ReLit Award and the Sunburst Award. Her most recent book The Swan Suit (Douglas & McIntyre, 2020) was released the day before Covid19 was declared a global pandemic. Katherine holds a BA from the University of Calgary and is a graduate of Simon Fraser University’s Writer’s Studio program. She is a key organizer of the Whistler Writers Festival. When she isn’t working with words, she works with children, as a violin and piano teacher in Whistler and Squamish.
