Janis Harper – Surrey Muse

Janis Harper is a writer, singer-songwriter, actor, and former long-time college-university English instructor. In later life, she shed academia and became an expressive arts therapist. Her writings can be found in literary journals and anthologies, including her own creative nonfiction anthologies ‘Body Breakdowns: Tales of Illness and Recovery’ (Anvil 2007) and ‘Emails From India: Women Write Home’ (Seraphim 2013). She is currently seeking a publisher for her poetry collection, ‘Sounding Socrates’. Music from her 2015 CD Better This Way can be streamed or purchased anywhere online. Janis’s lifelong passions for the creative arts, metaphysics, spirituality, and philosophy come together in her recent book, ‘Jonas and the Mountain: A Metaphysical Love Story’ (Sacred Stories 2021). Although it’s a novel, it’s also semi-autobiographical, and contains metaphysical teachings as well as expressive arts therapy elements and activities. Janis has presented her work in Canada, the US, and India, and she recently moved from Vancouver to Nanaimo, BC.
