Hannah Macready – Surrey Muse

Hannah Macready is a writer and editor working in the areas of copywriting, editing, and digital marketing. Her fiction and nonfiction has been published in Canada, UK and the USA. Hannah completed her undergraduate studies with honours at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UK) in 2018. In 2017, she received the Maurice Hodgson Award for Creative Distinction. Hannah is the Magazine Assistant at EVENT Magazine for which she creates regular web content. Originating from the United States, Hannah now resides in Vancouver.

Cathy Stonehouse – Surrey Muse

Cathy Stonehouse is a poet, fiction writer and an educator who has just launched her debut novel titled The Causes (Pedlar Press 2019). Born and raised in the UK, Cathy has published two collections of her poetry, The Words I Know (Press Gang 1994), and Grace Shiver (Inanna 2011), and one collection of short fiction, Something about the Animal (Biblioasis 2011). She co-edited the creative nonfiction anthology Double Lives: Writing and Motherhood with Fiona Tinwei Lam and Shannon Cowan, and she edited EVENT magazine from 2000-2004. At this time, she is a member of faculty in the departments of creative writing and interdisciplinary expressive arts at Kwantlen Polytechnic University.

Shashi Bhat – Surrey Muse

Shashi Bhat is a writer, editor and an educationist working in New Westminster. Her debut novel, The Family Took Shape (Cormorant, 2013), was a finalist for the Thomas Raddall Atlantic Fiction Award. She is the winner of the 2018 Journey Prize, a finalist for the 2018 National Magazine Award for fiction, and, a finalist for the 2010 Bronwen Wallace Award. Shashi’s fiction has appeared in The Malahat Review, The New Quarterly, The Dalhousie Review, Grain, PRISM international, Best Canadian Stories 2018, Journey Prize Stories 24 & 30, and other publications. Shashi holds an MFA in fiction from The Johns Hopkins University. She is the editor-in-chief of EVENT Magazine, and teaches creative writing at Douglas College.
