Franz Seachel – Surrey Muse

Franz Seachel is a poet, writer, performer, and an arts advocate. She organizes poetry events and writing workshops through Kwantlen Poetry Project. She is the president and a co-founder of Melanin: KPU’s BIPOC writers’ collective, and, a member and co-founder of Maza Arts Collective. Franz is a trained yoga instructor who facilitates workshops on writing and performance, and she hopes to one day combine elements of all three to teach self-awareness and discovery. Franz has her B.A. in Creative Writing from Kwantlen Polytechnic University. She wants ‘shamelessly to take up space as a South-Asian female creator; to help other marginalized voices to feel comfortable doing the same‘. She is a settler creating on the unceded traditional lands of the Kwantlen, Katzie, Tsawwassen, Kwikwetlem, Stó:lö, Musqueam, Semiahmoo, Tsawwassen and Qayqayt people, colonially known as Surrey/North Delta in BC. Franz has received an Honorable Mention for the Vera Manuel Award for poetry 2022.
