Myrtle Thomas is a Montreal-based musician and educator. A skilled flutist, vocalist, and pianist, she first appeared as ‘The Other Woman’ L’Opéra de Montreal 2014 premiere of Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess, to the high seas with Holland America Cruise Lines, to the Toronto Jazz Festival with hip-hop artist Milla Thyme, and most recently as a flutist with Canada’s first classical music ensemble composed mostly of musicians from diverse cultural backgrounds, l’Ensemble Obiora. Myrtle holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts and Graduate Diploma in Advanced Music Performance Studies from Concordia University in classical flute, and in 2022, completed a Master of Music in Jazz Performance at McGill University. Myrtle is the Second Place Winner of Faith Nolan Award for Music 2022.
