Russell Wallace – Surrey Muse

Russell Wallace is a First Nations writer, composer, producer, educator, community activist and singer of traditional Lil’wat music. Russell studied creative writing at Capilano College and the University of British Columbia.

His poems have been published in anthologies and periodicals including the Salish Seas anthology and Rice Paper. Russell’s music has also featured in TV and film soundtracks and in theatre productions.

Russell currently teaches drumming and singing at Capilano College and at the Native Education College at Simon Fraser University. He is also the Vice President of Warriors Against Violence, a non-profit which helps First Nations families unlearn violent and abusive behaviours.
