Mohammed Hanif is a novelist, journalist and a screenwriter who has published three novels including ‘A Case of Exploding Mangoes’ (2008), his debut title, on the exploding death of Pakistan’s General Ziaul Haq that won Shakti Bhatt First Book Prize in 2008 and Commonwealth Book Prize in 2009. Other titles include ‘Our Lady of Alice Bhatti’ (2011, won Wellcome Book Prize), and ‘Red Birds’ (2018). Mohammed also wrote feature film ‘The Long Night’ (2002), and stage play ‘The Dictator’s Wife’ (2008) presented at Hampstead Theatre. His writings have been published by numerous publications such as the New York Times, Washington Post, BBC, Herald, and Newsline. At this time, Mohammed is writing ‘Bhutto’, an opera named after the hanged Prime Minister of Pakistan.
