Missy D – Surrey Muse

Missy D is a bilingual Hip Hop, Rap & Soul Artist who has released two music albums ‘When Music Hits You Feel No Pain’, and ‘Yes Mama’. Coming from the three corners of the motherland: Rwanda, Côte d’Ivoire, Zimbabwe, Missy has been rapping since she was 11 years old in both French and English. She calls it Rap & Soul as it is a fusion of sounds of her childhood from French melodies to r&b, soul, jazz, hip hop and rap legends. As a black cis-women, Missy represents a visible minority that at times is invisible to the world. You will hear the sounds of MC Solaar, Diams, Erykah Badu, India Arie, J.Cole, Missy Elliott and Lauryn Hill echoing through her voice. Her second album was published in March 2020, and its release party was cancelled due to COVID pandemic restrictions, so Missy dropped a music video for her song ‘Yes Mama’, and it is now available on YouTube.
